A good article on moving on with Data Protection and the EU data protection reform. I agree that this is not something we should wait to be implemented, it should be the standard setting now. Data needs to be protected, yet workers not prohibited from doing their jobs. There is a fine balance.
I think all data should be treated in the same way whether high or low value, because as people are making the final decision on whether data is worth protecting or not leaves gaping holes for mistakes to be made. I think we are all aware that there is only so much that can be done to protect and keep data confidential, but what we can do, we should do.
To those who give a heavy sigh of data protection what a pain...remember...if it was your personal, confidential, sensitive data that was left to be compromised, would you be happy about it?
“There is a sense in my mind that not many businesses have really understood what EU data protection reform is really about,” said Room. “Businesses should be focusing on the big picture, they need to reflect on their business and their environment, decide what is important to them, and come up with a list of priorities.”
