Well done to the Cabinet Office CDO for repairing the 'obvious to all IT staff' floor in outsourcing IT to 'off shore' and to 'one man and his band' Fujitsu.
Almost 10 years ago cutting costs and outsourcing IT staff in government departments to reduce headcount and expense (obviously conveniently excluding the hidden huge costs of the IT consultancy and the top heavy Civil Service hierarchy costing masses more), IT is being brought back in house by the the one's that wanted to drive the outsourcing trend. And I believe with the right people recruited, it's the correct move.
I'm not going to say I told you outsourcing wouldn't work, but.....
The department is mid-way through an internal technology transformation programme to replace its ‘Flex’ agreement with Fujitsu, due to expire this month. Instead of replacing the single provider deal with individual ‘Tower’ contracts, the Cabinet Office is building internal teams to run its IT in-house, led by the CDO.
